Chronicle Toward Books Shadow Hills (Shadow Hills #1)

After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandons her bubbly LA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA -- a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned in her last diary entry before she died.   Once there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her new town. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of its citizens in the 1700s, but its modern townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach -- the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after -- seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately linked to those who reside in Shadow Hills.

Criticize Based On Books Shadow Hills (Shadow Hills #1)
Shadow Hills has been a hotly anticipated 2010 release around the blogosphere, and now I know why! Anastasia Hopcus has delivered a great story combining elements of gothic mystery with Greek mythology, shady town secrets, great characters, and one of the hottest YA romances Ive read in a while. If youve been getting a little tired of the same old paranormal romance, then this book is for you. I can guarantee you wont have read anything quite like it before! I raced through this book in one

Oh, I hate writing negative reviews! So much! But really, what I'm about to write isn't going to be a review as much as it's going to be a rant. A rant on why I really, really disliked this book and why it was a chore to get through. Before we get started, let me just say, I wanted to put this book down at pg 280. However, because I hate giving up on books, I made it through all 388 pages. Let me just tell you, though, that I heavily skimmed throughout the last 100 pages or so. I wanted to like

This was a great YA paranormal thriller. The supernatural element was completely unique to me. It revolved around science and mythology and put a brand new spin on both! A town full of people who are are completely human, but have more superior brain functions. Phe was a strong character that looked for the answers she wanted and refused to back down. She's trying to find answers to what happened to her sister, and in the process she also begins to find out who she really is. She was funny and

There is always a set amount of mystery and suspense when it comes to pretty much any, if not all, paranormal books that I've read, but Shadow Hills really tops it off in the what-the-hell-is-going-on category! This book left me guessing through out the entire story and I couldn't for the life of me guess what the paranormal element could have been, that's pretty impressive when a book can keep me on my toes like this, so needless to say, I had a lot of fun with this book.Phe is a very likable

Shadow Hills has everything: suspense, fun-but-believable romance, truly scary moments balanced with lighthearted ones, and a satisfying ending that left me pumped up with adrenaline! The suspense starts on page one and doesn't stop until the end, and I find myself thinking about the characters like they're real people. I can't wait for more from Anastasia!

This is a book I have been really excited about, I saw it at BEA and was pining after it but could not manage to get a copy. But when I got to ALA and saw it again I was lucky enough to get a copy and I think I even did a little happy dance when I did. This is another book that I started and finished in one day, even though it is almost 400 pages, but I am on vacation so reading is taking priority right now :)One of the things I like about this book is that the "paranormal" element is not what

From the moment I picked this book up to the very last page, I was captivated. When I was reading this one, I felt an overall sense of impending doom and discomfort, which is pretty awesome. It speas volumes of an author that can instill that kind of emotion in you. I really enjoyed the characters as well. Phe is very much her own person, not easily influenced by others. Her snark is top-notch, she doesn't back down from a challenge (be it physical or verbal), she wasn't too bad in the mushy
