Bella l'edizione, notevoli le illustrazioni dei pittori di Paleh, una traduzione che pare essere ben curata e, per me, affascinante. E basterebbe Ruslan e Ljudmila a farmi consigliare vivamente quest'opera. Un regalo che mi ha resa felice come una bambina a Natale (non so cosa abbia fatto per meritare tutti questi bei libri in regalo, ma, state certi, finché me li faranno, ben contenta li accetterò! XD). Una lingua preziosa, una struttura particolare, una narrazione incalzante. L'occhio, a tratti, ironico e placido del narratore. Una lettura che ho fatto con immenso piacere. Una piccola gioia! :)

The joy of this book is not so much the Pushkin tales, but the artwork. This edition is a hybrid, translated Pushkin fairy tales illustrated by magnificent renderings of the Palekh paintings that depict the tales on lacquered Russian boxes. Many of them are glorious, so this is an art book to cherish.As for the text, I found this mixed. Most of the book is taken up with Pushkin's famous tale of "Ruslan and Ludmilla". I really enjoyed the illustrations in this book. This book is more of a book for adults to read to the kids. I probably wouldn't but this on my bookshelf in my classroom.

The tales themselves are quite familiar, owing to the number of Russian fairy tales I read when growing up. One of these is a retelling of Snowwhite.I purchased this from a seller of old and specially Russian books, at quite an expense. I didn't know that this was in verse, or I would not have bought it. Because verse doesn't translate well, particularly as verse. On the up-side, the book is in as good a condition as can be after 35 years, and it is wonderful to own these now rare books. The
