Interpretation Conducive To Books Measuring Up

Seventeen-year-old Annabel Conway is tired of the Hillcrest High School elite making her life miserable because she’s not a size two. This summer, she's hiring a personal trainer to help her lose weight.

Annabel doesn’t expect her trainer to be a gorgeous guy around her age. Boys like Tegan are jerks. They pretend to like girls like her so they can make an idiot out of them. Been there, done that. Totally not going there again. She kind of hates him on principal. Blond. Muscular. Funny. It doesn’t help that he knows her measurements!

Soon, Tegan's so much more than that. He’s the boy who teaches her to box when she has a bad day. Who jogs with her and lets her set the pace. Who kisses her until she melts. He makes her feel beautiful regardless of what the scale says. Unlike her mom, he doesn’t expect perfection, and he doesn't try to shield her from the world like her dad and best friend. Tegan likes her the way she is.

But what happens when he’s not there? He can’t always be there…

Will Annabel be able to stand on her own and learn that she already measures up? That her worth doesn’t lie in what the world thinks, the scale says, or even what Tegan tells her—but in herself?

I loved that this book covered some weighty issues, bullying, first loves and parental issues. The creativity of it set it apart from other YA Romances I have read lately. I really loved that the handsome young trainer, Tegan, didnt wait until Annabel was skinny before starting to fall for her. Not everything is about outward appearance and this book proved that! My heart broke for Annabel; she was treated horribly at school because of her weight issues and when she was home her mom wasnt any

Bravo Nyrae, a book that not only could I not wait to finish, but one that reminds those that read, that well 1) all have struggles 2)skinny doesn't mean beautiful 3)the most powerful thing you can do for yourself is believe and depend on YOURSELF 4)Love is unconditional and forgiving and blind.Like I said in my progress update, this book immediately caught my attention and held me to the characters. I understood Annabel and her struggles and have been there done that... course for me I didn't

Okay....so I read this book in 1 day. I couldn't put it down. I truly enjoyed this book, I think it is because I can relate to Annabel. I have always struggled with my weight and the friction between her and her mom I could totally connect with. I had my troubles with my mom, but I always knew she loved me, I felt so bad for Annabel for not ever really knowing if your mom loves her. I thought Annabel and Tegan's love story was great. It blossomed over time and it gave us readers time to

Love Annabel.Love Tegan. This book is equal parts funny, sweet, sexy and heartbreaking.Oh... and there might also be swooning involved...

I really enjoyed this book! Sure it was a little cheesy, sappy but it in a good way. I thought it was a really sweet story and I loved the characters. One of the best female protags I've read in YA contemporary in a long time, she was just incredibly likeable. And Tegan? Wow, major book boyfriend material-love him. I fell for the whole thing-hook, line and sinker and bookmarked the hell out of it! Yes, there were some editing issues and some of the writing didn't flow quite right but in this

Okay I'm just going to bust out and say it. Nyrae Dawn is a Goddess. Every book of hers is a masterpiece. I thought nothing could be as good as Freeing Carter, but this is. A wonderful book about learning to love yourself, learning who you are, and learning to tune out all the voices telling you that you are not enough. Just an amazing book, a one sitting wonder you cannot put down. This woman is going to be a household name, it is absurd she is not already.

4.5 starsI've only read one book by Nyrae Dawn and although I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either. I liked it enough to be curious about her other offerings and what else she can bring to the table.So...I read this book, and......This book rocks!!There's no other way to put it really. I absolutely LOVED it! One book, one day, loved, loved, loved...The story was great, the characters wonderful, and the pacing just right. I loved reading this book from Annabel's POV. She was a wonderfully
