Narration To Books A Shadow Falls (Nick Brandt Trilogy #2)

In A Shadow Falls, which features fifty-eight recent images in stunning, oversized tritone plates, Nick Brandt continues his ambitious and ongoing photographic project to memorialize the vanishing natural grandeur of East Africa. Brandt’s wide-screen panoramas of animals and landscapes capture an epic vision of Africa that has not been seen before. His iconic portraits of its majestic animals are filled with an empathy usually reserved for human subjects.

From the opening images in A Shadow Falls, of a verdant world filled with multitudes of animals, to the closing images of small bands of creatures moving across a parched, dusty earth, Brandt portrays a mythic Africa struggling against tragic forces. In years to come, we will look back at these powerful photographs and wonder why humanity did not do more to preserve this rare corner of earthly paradise.

Write-Up Epithetical Books A Shadow Falls (Nick Brandt Trilogy #2)
Brandt is a true artisan. His empathetic, evocative portraiture of the animals and landscapes of East Africa are simply extraordinary.

These photos are nothing short of genius, miraculous works of astonishing beauty.

This book is on display at my library, and of course that stunning photograph of the elephant on the cover caught my eye. Since I only had a short time, I did not read the introductory material, but spent my time admiring each photograph presented in the collection. And if you think the cover photo is stunning, you'll be in awe of all of them. Covering the most common African animals (lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, cheetahs, gorillas) all in black-and-white, each photo seems to

A wonderful book. Large, well printed plates demonstrate the stunning images of Nick Brandt in Africa. The images in the book are definitely 5 star. The reason I rated the book with only 4 stars is the lack of writing from Brandt. I think if he had offered more feedback on his experience with making these images, insights gained it really would have personalized the experience of looking through the images. There are a couple of pages written by him but I think more would have really enhanced

Nick Brandt has been my favorite photographer/artist for a long time. Not only is his work beautiful, but he works with the Big Life Foundation as well. Black and white photography is my favorite, as well as elephants, which is how I can across his photography in the first place. On top of that, all the work in his first three books was shot on film, no digital. I am also a big fan of film photography because of the time and effort that goes into procession and developing the film, as well as

What a phenomenal book. The most amazing photography I have seen. The images are remarkable & it makes me want to visit Eastern Africa!

Magnificent and moving black and white photographs of African wildlife. Beyond beautiful.
