Relation Supposing Books The Illustrated World of Mortal Engines (Mortal Engines Quartet)

Now this book too my by surprise.

You see such books like these can all too easily fall in to predictable (and disappointing) formats.

For example the re-hashed artwork - where you have a few excellent images (taken from covers) while the rest are hastily done by a sketch artist clearly working to a time deadline.

Then you have the poor content - either quoting snippets from the books or explanations from someone who read the first chapter and now clearly knows everything

And finally the guide book - which reads either as a York Notes to the novels or clearly has gone the opposite way and does not even want to give away the time of day incase someone feels that its spoiled the surprise of the books.

DO NOT FEAR - this is not the case in this book. Not at all, here you have a wonderful illustrated book which clearly follows the style of the covers but is much more. Also you have someone who either has a lot of research or loves the series as the entries are fascinating - both when you have not got a clue what is happening in the books and equally when you know exactly what they referring to.
This book is a wealth of information that takes no short cuts of cheap tricks to fill its pages.

This is a true guide and to be honest makes you hope there are further stories soon to be told. A wonderful book that even feels quality with this heavy gauge paper pages and is solid build. Some put a lot of time and effort in to this book and shows.

Evaluation Of Books The Illustrated World of Mortal Engines (Mortal Engines Quartet)
Beautiful illustrations

Lovely artwork. Interesting background to the quartet of books. I don't think you would have to have read the books to enjoy this but it helped. Not really useful to read in a sitting or even sequentially. Nice for dipping in and out of. Keep it on that coffee table.

Having loved the world created in the mortal Engines quartet I just had to have this book and I am so glad I picked it up. The narration has the same wit that is present in the books and you can see that Reeve knew exactly what he envisioned the world as being. Add in the beautiful illustrations and its a sure fire win - I recommend it to anyone who loved the books and would like to know more.

Philip Reeve was born and raised in Brighton, where he worked in a bookshop for a number of years while also co-writing, producing and directing a number of no-budget theatre projects.Philip then began illustrating and has since provided cartoons for around forty children's books, including the best-selling Horrible Histories, Murderous Maths and Dead Famous series.Railhead, published by Oxford

I love the Mortal Engines series - it's an absolute triumph of world-building, and tells a bunch of thrilling and interesting stories over many years. So this book was a delight. Little snippets of description, rounding out the world, expanding on the cities of Municipal Darwinism and extending the world into areas we never got to see.The artwork is phenomenal. I'm a sucker for cutaway-style architectual drawings, from a childhood (mis?)spent with Usborne books, so the little pseudo-technical
