Evaluate Regarding Books Owlknight (Valdemar: Owl Mage Trilogy #3)
I enjoyed this trio of stories. This one was off to a ponderously slow start, but ended up being a worthy adventure.

Lovely final episode of Darian and Keisha's story, including an epic overland search for Darian's parents and a mage battle. Great fun.

Great story, and as always, great characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and it concluded well.

Probably 2 1/2 stars, really. It wasn't a bad book, but I've read better of Lackey's. The pacing seemed very wrong - the first 2/3 of the book are describing the social/political structure of Valdemar and the characters' relational problems. The "main" plot is finally introduced about 100 pages before the end, and then hurriedly dealt with. The result is a slow first part of the book, a very gripping last few chapters, and an epilogue that would have been better expanded. Not a bad book, but

Review of owlknightThis book was spellbinding once started was hard to put down have read all this series's a must read series

Finished my chronological re-read of Valdemar, and really enjoyed it! This was a nice wrapping up of Darian's story.

Pacing of the book was a bit slow. I spent the first half of the book eagerly expecting something interesting to happen, with a lot of build-up regarding totems and spirits and the like. Then the second half comes along at a blisteringly fast pace and rushes to an ending. There were a lot of named characters but I didn't feel much investment in most of them. Honestly, I'm a bit bummed that this is the last full book in the Valdemar chronology.
